In WWII, a group of mostly African American airmen made up the 332nd Fighter Group and the 447th Bombardment Group of the US Army Air Force. (I say mostly African American because upon further research there was I think one white guy) but it was essentially an all black team of badasses that comprised the Tuskegee Airmen.
This AVI-8 is a take on their P-51 mustang, which as the name implies, is an homage to the famed WW2 fighter plane.
